Walking Tracks

Kawau Island is home to some of New Zealand’s most beautiful walking tracks. Thick, spongy hyper-green moss covers much of the islands tracks, some of which are thought to have been created during Governor Grey’s time on the island, following his Coach Road, built in the mid-late 1800’s.
Stroll, (or run, if you are so inclined) through thick native bush, for as long, or as little as you like, taking in clear native bird song, inhaling the clean crisp air, and gazing over lagoons, estuaries, secluded boat access only beaches, heavily forested hills and miles of ocean.

Walking tracks within the Moores Bay subdivision are private and maintained by the island’s live in manager.
